On January 20, countless organizations and groups throughout the U.S. are coming together to mark the inauguration of the 45th American President with demands for renewed commitment to the diversity of cultural, political and social values in the U.S. In New York, as part of #J20, the Vera List Center invites you to join us for DISPATCH PARTY at The Cooper Union, Not Going Back at The New School, and Speak Out On Inauguration Day at The Whitney Museum of American Art.

Welcome remarks. There are materials for making signs, etc. for the marches on J20 and J21–you are welcome to bring your own. Food generously provided by Court Street Grocers.

5:00-8:00 pm
Organizers and activists are invited to come and give 3-minute breakdowns of what they are working on and where these efforts stand at the moment. If you would like to sign up you are welcome to add your name to the list on the day of.

For workshops for building community, resilience, and power in the wake of the trump presidency. Historical & Cultural Context/ Learning as we Build, Practical Knowledge and Skill-Building, Strategic Advocacy, and Self-care and healing spaces. Check-out the VLC workshop on boycotts as tools of resistance, agency and cultural production.

Speak Out on Inauguration Day

Artists, writers, and activists will affirm their values to resist and reimagine the current political climate. Speakers include Gina Beavers, Chinatown Art Brigade, Aruna D’Souza, Avram Finkelstein, Chitra Ganesh, Guerrilla Girls, Paddy Johnson, Carin Kuoni, Kalup Linzy, Naeem Mohaiemen, Tracie Morris, Uche Nduka, Trace Peterson, Laura Raicovich, Martha Rosler, Mira Schor, Dread Scott, Gregory Sholette, and others to be announced. This event is organized by Occupy Museums. Free museum admission.
