Lecture Fri 5 Apr 2002
The Artist in Residence program at New School was founded in honor of David Randolf by the choir he conducted, The St. Cecilia Chorus. Talented artist educators are invited to the residency to carry on Randolf's singular vision as an artist committed to education. African-American feminist poet Hattie Gossett's career reflects this framework. Her musical portfolio includes the Poetry Jazz Band, and countless live spoken word performances across North America. She has two published books of poetry Sister No Blues and The Immigrant Suite. In this talk, Hattie discusses her growth process as a writer and performs live with musical accompaniment.
