The second discussion in the "Sustaining Democracy" series.

Art often addresses subjects people would rather prefer not to face, and artists, curators, museum directors, critics, and public officials find themselves from time to time being asked to explain (if not defend) works dealing with gender and sexism, race and racism, sexuality, nudity and eroticism. The discussion considers the frames of reference and the vocabulary for talking about such art, with slides illustrating some difficult works that address taboo subjects.

In cooperation with The Museum of Modern Art.
